Impact National Conference

Dating back to the origins of Impact in 2004, The Impact National Conference is our flagship event. Held in November, the annual Impact National Conference brings together 500 of Canada's top young leaders from high schools, universities and colleges. These future leaders participate in a two day long experience filled with workshops, breakout sessions, keynote speakers, a banquet and an awards ceremony. This conference enables delegates to learn, discuss and network with their peers and distinguished members of the entrepreneurial community. Past speakers at the conference include Harry Rosen (Founder of Harry Rosen Inc.), Frank O’Dea (Founder of Second Cup), Marc and Craig Kielburger (Founder of Free the Children), Michael Lee-Chin (Founder and Chairman of Portland Holdings), and many more.

In 2007, Impact's National Events Tour (NET) initiative made a splash on the UW campus, bringing together events with Sun Microsystems, IBM and Dave Howlett. With an established rapport in Waterloo and growing connections in other cities across the nation, NET took a turn in 2008 and revamped itself into Impact Connect. Sporting a more professional title and a lineup of incredible events for the UW campus, Impact Connect is poised to attract students, faculty and industry from all disciplines over Winter 2009, with the vision of spreading its wings to other cities in the near future.

Connect Ontario
Connect Ontario is an extension of Impact's successful Connect program currently established at the University of Waterloo. It's goal is to emulate the Connect "recipe" and apply it to other university campuses across Ontario. Connect Ontario is a new Impact initiative established in 2009 meant to give more students the opportunity to have an active leadership role as part of the organization while bringing highly engaging events to other academic institutions.

November 2nd - 13th - Global Innovation Tournament

A viral online awareness campaign, the I am my Ambition campaign aims to attract entrepreneurs from all facets of life to share with youth their experiences becoming an entrepreneur and the struggles and failures associated with that journey. The main goal of these videos is to break down the barriers to the word Entrepreneur. The goal of this campaign is to highlight entrepreneurs, however showcase them in a light which youth can easily relate to.

Impact Microcredit is an initiative that provides high school students with a real-life opportunity to start a project, raise money for charity, and win great prizes. Teams of three to five secondary school and Cégep students from across Canada are given $100 to jump-start their entrepreneurial idea and execute their plan in just one week.Competing against peers from all across Canada, teams are judged on the creativity of their business plan, the effectiveness of their execution, and the amount of their profits – all of which are donated to a charity of their choice.

Leadership Summit

Successful youth entrepreneurs, industry leaders and government officials, the Impact Leadership Summit brings them all together to discuss the challenges and opportunities for today’s youth entrepreneurs in Canada. Providing the platform where these individuals can discuss, challenge, and shape Canada’s public policy in entrepreneurship, global competitiveness, and innovation. By hosting the Leadership Summit, Impact hopes that the Leadership Summit will shed light on today’s challenges in youth entrepreneurship and provide immediate action plans to address these problems.

Entrepreneurship Week Canada is a nation-wide campaign that embraces innovation, imagination and creativity. The campaign brought together entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations from across Canada to host educational and inspirational programs from November 17-23, 2008 as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The Impact Apprentice is a post secondary level competition which attracts the top 32 of the best and brightest students from across Canada. Modeled after Donald Trump’s Apprentice, the competition engages students to work in teams and solve unique real-life business scenarios that require them to demonstrate their application of strong business skills relating to leadership, management and teamwork.

Impact Expo is a one day exposition at the University of Waterloo (UW) campus that attracts over 2,000 students from across all programs and faculties at UW and other post secondary institutions. The day consists of speaker events, workshops, exhibition and recruiting fair.
