Who We Are

Mission Statement: "Impact's goal is to create the next generation of entrepreneurs and help young entrepreneurs realize their true potential.  Impact connects people, knowledge and ideas, recognizing success and providing inspiration to leaders at every stage of their development."

The Impact Entrepreneurship Group is Canada's largest non-profit, student-run organization dedicated to encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit amongst youth in Canada and becoming a starting point and catalyst for youth interested in entrepreneurship and leadership. Since 2004, Impact has developed programs both at the national and local level that reach over 10 000 young people each year. Consisting of over 100 student volunteers nationwide, Impact is dedicated to driving the entrepreneurial spirit.

What does it mean to us?

When most people hear the word entrepreneurship; they automatically assume it has to involve starting a business. Contrary to this commonly accepted definition, Impact believes the term embodies something bigger – a mindset towards life that can help achieve any dream, no matter what it is. Impact promotes the entrepreneurial spirit, an attitude and way of life which embodies 3 key components: ambition, passion and determination.

Why is it important?

Entrepreneurship in Canada is not being encouraged or promoted enough among today’s youth in the current education system. As students move through school, there is a lot of pressure to maintain grades, pursue higher education and an ideology of finding a corporate position after graduation. However Impact believes that students should be their own boss and explore the field of entrepreneurship.

There are many organizations that provide support, mentorship, and basic resources for entrepreneurs. However, youth are largely unaware these resources exist and together with general misconceptions, they are not as apt to choose entrepreneurship as a viable career path. Entrepreneurship in Canada needs to be encouraged at the youth level to foster innovation and build a strong, internationally competitive economy. With Impact’s 2008 programs, the stage is set for youth to be involved in entrepreneurship today. Impact creates a platform to connect youth with successful industry leaders and entrepreneurs.
